Serve Jeff City started in 2012 as a partnership among the United Way of Central Missouri, Jefferson City Parks and Recreation, and the Jefferson City Area YMCA. Along with other community organizations and groups, plans were made to host the first Serve Jeff City community-wide day of service on April 21, 2012. Over 300 volunteers participated in that first day of service. Held annually in April, Serve Jeff City projects have included beautification of our downtown area, cleanup and tree planting on the greenway trail, service projects at local non-profits such as the Boys and Girls Club and Jefferson City Day Care, and a special service project at the home of a returning national guardsman. In 2016, over 400 volunteers participated in the event.
Now in our sixth year, Serve Jeff City will again host a day of service on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
If you are looking for more ways to volunteer in Jefferson City, please consider participating in Mission JC on April 30, 2017. More information can be found at www.MissionJC.org.
